Our Philosophy

Meeting Needs, Promoting Learning

We strive to provide our children with the nurture and security that they need in order to engage with learning effectively.

Tilehouse Street Pre-school and Nursery ensures that the children within our setting have their needs met before so they can develop a strong sense of self and self-esteem.

We aim to ensure that our children’s basic needs – their physical needs, their need for security and their need to feel loved – are met completely, as we believe that children cannot become effective learners if these basic needs are not met.  We make sure that all our pre-schoolers feel safe and valued, so that they can then go on to tackle the challenges of the nursery year effectively.

Both of our rooms provide a calm more structured environment where our children can develop their skills and knowledge further in readiness for school.  We encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop their natural sense of curiosity and wonder to explore and investigate the world around them.

Secure children develop strong self-esteem and self-confidence, as well as strong sense of self and their own potential. We encourage all our children to celebrate their achievements, and to share their interests with their key person and their peers.
